One thing that I’ve learned while I was away, and living in a tiny dorm, is I LOVE MY KITCHEN! Upon returning to Vancouver, which I may say, sucks at the moment, I’ve broken out of my routine of doing nothing and making concoctions in the kitchen via my Pinterest account.

All jokes aside, I may blog about how to make food rather than where I eat as I feel Kevin Wu of 604foodtography.com does a pretty good job of visiting restaurants. That’s an upcoming project that I may do….still pending

I’m in the middle of switching camera’s so blackberry photos have to do justice for the moment as well.

Baked Eggplant & Breaded Eggplant

Baked Bacon, Chicken & Zucchini Rotini

The toughest part about cooking for yourself is mother nature does not grow half a tomato or a bell pepper, I’m always stuck with left overs so I end up eating the same thing I had for lunch at dinner. Anyone want left overs? :)

Side note

Mother nature has spared Vancouver out of it’s reputation of rain since my return so Insurance of the Bike has been up and running!

First long ride of the season was to Whistler, great weather, great food, and finally some fresh air! While taking a break in Whistler, my buddy Jack told me about Tough Mudder this really intense race…(sorry I can’t describe it better) Anyone have experience participating in it? I’ve been asked if I’d want to experience this but I don’t want to die half way. (LOL)

Also there is a plus to Vancouver and it’s nature walks!….Guess who I bumped into on the Grouse Grind? :) He’s one of my fav hockey players (even though I can never tell them apart)

Apologies on my lack of posts! I’d like to explain why I’ve been so lazy with the posting…First off, as May proceeded to creep upon us, my sister flew to Hong Kong for a visit. (It was more like she was bringing me back to 604 as I almost forgot I’m not actually from Hong Kong!!) So are events that kept us busy.

The sister lands in HKG at 7am

She wasn’t too impressed by the lack of sightseeing. Didn’t want to pay $30 for the same view hahah

OCEAN PARK

Saw some cute pandas :)

Messing around in the children’s gift shop. Those hats bare fit our heads :(

Went on a couple rides…FIY taking photos while upside down is quite hard

High Tea @ the Peninsula

Had to say farewell to my lovely dodgeball team Junk sHotties

Cinco De May….enough said :D

Did a hike in Lantau Island to see the Buddha….WORST IDEA EVER

As we (almost missed our flight) wait for our number, it didn’t strike me I was actually leaving until I boarded the plane.

Gi Kee is located in the Nai Chung Complex near Happy Valley. We were recommended to head here by a local Auntie and was warned about how crazy this place gets. Once you enter a whole bunch of Chinese ladies will approach you and take you to either a white covered table or pink, GO TO WHITE! There are two restaurants and long story short, two restaurants take over this floor and fight for customers.

Gi Kee has quite a bit of award for their food. Mind you my Chinese is terrible and can’t read a word for shit so I headed over to see if they had any articles in English about the chef, they didn’t…so looking like a idiotic foodie, I headed back to my table after snapping some photos.

The Fried Rice, staple food in a Chinese dinner diet, was average. Seafood was fresh, no doubt, but for fried rice you can never really make it to special. We just didn’t plain rice.

The Green Beans with Minced Pork was very tasty! The combination of the crunchy, not overcooked, beans with soft marinated pork was very good.

Jasmine had previously been here with an Auntie and had recommended the Egg yolk fried shrimp. The texture was definitely different as it was a dry batter but with the mixture of the shrimp it was juicy enough. The yolk taste is predominately strong, just to warn those who don’t usually eat yolks…

My favorite dish was probably the Garlic Chicken. This dish was a this chicken dish marinated in soya sauce topped off with fresh fried garlic smothered over and around. You’ll definitely need a mint after this chicken! This chicken was not dry or tasteless, it was full of garlic falvour while the soya and oil in the chicken kept it juicy. I was recommended to order this dish by more than one person too!

If you are in the area or if you are early for a horse race by the track, head over the Gi kee! You either have to wait in an extremely long line or if you are lucky to be there before 6pm, you’ll have an empty restaurant like what we had :)

If you’ve been following my adventures, you’ll probably notice if my friends and I are utterly bored out of our minds, we’ll hit up Mong Kok. Of course MK never lets us down for shopping and food! Jasmine (from California) was super excited to have discovered something of her homeland: CPK. Not for Canadian readers, just think of the equivalent restaurant Sammy J Peppers or Cactus Club.

For those living in HK and are  little bored of the usual Cafe De Coral or HKU Canteen, just take a ride down to Kowloon side for some BBQ chicken salad. Little do you know it’s actually quite hard to find a good salad at a decent price.

Haven’t been to a decent Mexican yet, that wasn’t good for just margaritas (haha) But the Guacamole Salsa Tortilla Chip had to suffice the cravings.

Anyhoo, Since #Canucks are out of the NHL playoffs, Go Sens(Canadaaaaa)!
Kings over Blues
Predators over Coyotes
That’s all…not in tuned with Eastcoast haha

Sorry for the lack of post about anything…

First…

Canucks are in the playoffs so I’m sacrificing sleep to watch 8AM games. (Pic is tad old…when i had short black hair)

Second…I’ve got tones of papers. Once the week is over I’ll be back with lots of food post :)
